Group Leader's Message

Happy New Year to all,
Gregg May, Group Leader

I’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone who has worked so hard to continue the success of SDG over the last 12 months. For our 2010 committee has enlarged once more. We have been refining roles, hopefully helping SDG to improve and run more smoothly than ever. The current workforce, as ever owes much to the outgoing committee members that made SDG what it is now.

2009 was a very successful year for SDG, we had an excellent turnout at shows and events, and our twice monthly club nights were well supported. Our mid-month runs and trips out kept us busy through the summer and we have made several trips over the water as a club; once to the Ardennes region of France/Belgium, Douai, France and also a pre-Christmas trip to Ghent for the Belgium festive market.

The website has been our prime form of communication in 2009, as it has been for the last few years. As ever we need your input to keep it up to date, so please let us have your pictures video clips and write-ups which will continue to help the website grow.

For 2010 we hope to continue to lift our regular calendar to higher ground. We will of course be attending a number of shows throughout the year, focusing on three major events, trying to cover as much of the country as possible. we continue to come up with ideas to keep you entertained on our clubnights, the 2nd Tuesday club nights at the Kings Head, Chailey, as well as the last Thursday of the month meetings (March-October) at The White Hart Inn, Netherfield, and always welcome suggestions from club members.

We have a new twist on the SDG 'Continental' run, venturing all the way to "The Isle of Wight", and also many mid month events to look forward to.

We have at least two members of SDG regularly competing in their TRs sprinting and Hillclimbing. We hope to support this aspect of our club as we travel to the Gurston Down hillclimb to see our competition members in action.

We have managed to attract a number of new members to regularly come along in 2009, I hope we can keep this up in 2010. To do this we need to continually move forward, so we need "YOUR" help to decide what SDG should be doing. If you do have an idea or suggestion then let me or another member of the committee know - it is your club after all.

See you all in 2010!

Gregg May
