Group Leader's Message

Happy New Year to all,

I’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone who has worked so hard to continue the success of SDG over the last 12 months. A lot has changed in that time - I have become Group Leader and much of the committee has changed. The current workforce owes much to the outgoing members that made SDG what it is now.

2007 was a very successful year for SDG, we had excellent turnout at shows and events, our two club nights were well attended and we have made a new regular slot with our mid-month tours. We have made trips over the water as a club, once to the Ardennes region of France/Belgium and to Ghent, Belgium also to Honfleur and Laon.

The website has been the focus of serious work in the last 12 months and is an ever developing way of keeping you and the rest of the world informed as to what SDG do and when we do it.

For 2008 we hope to continue to lift our regular calendar to higher ground. We will of course be attending several shows throughout the year and running our 2nd Tuesday club nights at the Five Bells, as well as the last Thursday of the month meeting at The Beauport Park Hotel. We have the SDG/CCT Continental run to look forward to, as well as our mid-month tours.

Something that I think deserves more attention is the competition aspect of our club. We have at least two members of SDG regularly competing in their TRs in the TR Register Sprint and Hill climb. I hope we can get along to at least one event and support their efforts in 2008.

I hope we have managed to whet your appetite as to what is going to be available in the coming year - I sure am looking forward to it!

But, as ever we need YOUR help to decide what SDG should be doing. If you do have an idea or suggestion then let me or another member of the committee know - it is your club after all.
