A good selection of large and small parts in the Autojumble section, gives any car restorer a choice of parts and spares.Classic cars, military vehicles, steam engines and motorcycles are just a handful of the 1000 exhibits to view and enjoy. Many of these will be displayed in the arena, proving the enduring design and quality of vehicles from the past. The National Tractor pulling association Championship, second round, will again be held here. Fast and furious sport of Tractor Drag Racing over a 100 yard course is always impressive and hard to forget! V8 & V12 engines producing over 2000 horsepower, faster than your average tractor!!!

This a non - profit making event with all money raised going to the Kent/ Surrey/Sussex Air Ambulance Trust. Over the weekend there is a free bar but it is requested that donations are made to the charity with this is all being down to the individual. Included are beer, lager, red/white wine, punch, cider & soft drinks. A BBQ is provided for which a charge is made but all the food comes from local farms, is of exceptional quality and at very reasonable prices. The aim is to give good value for money whilst also raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.

The entry fee is £7 per adult with children under 14 free and on arrival you will receive a welcome pack which contains a programme of events and free sample gifts. Also included is a rally plaque and a commemorative plaque from their sponsors. A tour to a place of interest with tulip diagrams and treasure hunt is also included which takes place on the Saturday. There is also a display of cars on the Sunday which includes trophies voted on by attendees. The campsite used is of the utmost quality with excellent facilities. Cost is £14 per night per pitch.

.Held at Groombridge, near Tunbridge Wells this event is free of charge to any classic vehicle exhibitor and up to two passengers. Entrants must register in advance. As well as the exhibits you can enjoy the formal gardens, Enchanted Forest with it's raised wooden adventure boardwalk and giant swings, birds of prey and canal boat ride. A run out with The RINGMER CLASSIC CAR CLUB.. Those that attended last years joint club run with Ringmer Car Club will remember what a good evening it was. A wide variety of interesting cars, a super route, and a fine pub to finish at (approached from a number of alternative directions!).
Roy has again made arrangements for us to meet up at The Anchor in Ringmer at 7.00pm for the run to start at 7.30pm. This year, RCC have planned the route, but Roy assures me that the finishing line will be another fine pub.
As last year, the run needs to set off promptly at 7.30pm, so some of the older cars, with ancient lighting, can take part.
Please let Georgeknow if you will be coming along.

Some of us will be returning from Le Mans that afternoon, but I have asked Roy to establish where the finish will be, so, ferry permitting, we may be able to join you there.

Arthur has advised me of the dates of the events he may take part in this year
18th July - at Gurston Down - Hillclimbs and Sprints. These are great days out, and it's good to see an SDG member take part.

Join us for a scenic run to Chichester, enjoy a leisurely lunch aboard a narrow boat while it travels along the canal, witnessing the wildlife and tranquility. http://www.chichestercanal.org.uk, then return via another scenic route.
If interested, let me know (George), as there are limited places on the narrow boat. Total cost will be approximately £10 ph for the cruise and lunch (bring your own booze).

To be held over two days this year for the first time this is a huge show with magnificent flying displays from the early aviation days up to the latest fighter jets intermixed with some superb historic vehicles/motorcycles and more recent modern supercars all speeding down the runway. Many of the vehicles are from the famous Brooklands Motor Museum. Held at the airfield used by the BBC for filming Top Gear this show attracts, amongst others, The Red Arrows and Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight. The secretary of the local Alfa Romeo Owners Club, has kindly invited SDG members to attend their 9th September meeting, which is to be held at The Jack & Jill pub (on the A273 between Hassocks and the junction of the A23 at Pyecombe).
The meeting starts at 7.00 pm and there will be a light-hearted concours event, followed by a talk by the Institute of Advanced Motorists, detailing their courses and activities. Sounds like an interesting evening, and a good chance to poke around some other cars Please let George Know if you plan to attend ......

One exhibit vehicle pass is provided for each exhibitor which allows free entry for one vehicle containing a maximum of 4 people including exhibitor. Exhibitors entry form can be got from Hugh and the closing date for all entries is 20th August 2010

The Hastings Show

Just a note to let you know that we have changed the venue for watching the London to Brighton "Old Crocks" Run. This year we will assemble at The Friars Oak pub/restaurant, which is on the A273 at Hassocks, just opposite the Hassocks Golf Club
We will meet up at 10.00am onwards, and the pub will have a stall outside which supplies Bacon sandwiches and hot soup, tea and coffee until opening time when , of course, beer etc is available. The pub also does a good range of reasonably priced meals. This is a popular venue for Vet car watchers, and a good range of classic cars usually make the car park interesting. A number of the vet cars also stop to refuel both cars and drivers ready for the assault on Pyecombe Hill. We look forward to seeing you there!
