A raffle will be run later in the evening.

Magnificent Motors, Eastbourne
The start of the SDG show calendar. A new event which we hope will prove a good reason to dust the car off and give it its first proper polish! Held on the Western Lawns and on the slopes of the Wish Tower. Plans include an evening concert in the Bandstand followed by a firework finale on the Sunday. Details to follow.
May - Tuesday 11th Vineyard Visit - Ridge View Estate, Ditchling
Tour of vineyard which produces champagne style sparkling wines, tour of winery, and wine tasting. The cost is £5 per person. It is very important that everybody is at the vineyard by 7.30pm as this is the time the tour starts. This visit replaces our normal club night. We are arranging to meet at the Five Bells to have a convoy of cars to the vineyard, this will leave at 7.00pm. Alternatively you can make your own way there: Ridge View Estate is off of the B2112 Ditchling to Haywards Heath road, about 1.5 miles north of Ditchling, just before the large roundabout at Ditchling Common. It is down Fragbarrow Lane, which is on the left when coming from Ditchling. ‘Ridge View Wine Estate’ and also ‘Fragbarrow Nurseries’ are signposted on the B2112 at the entrance to Fragbarrow Lane. Follow the lane to the end as if you are going to the nursery and on the left you will see the wrought iron gates to the Ridge View Estate. Contact: Ian May, 01825 733778

July - Sunday 11th SDG Summer Saunter
A great success last year, with a mystery tour finishing up at the Filching Manor Motor Museum, this years event is to take a similar format. A mystery tour with an unknown destination is the order of the day once again. Those without a sense of adventure need not apply! The start will be at the Five Bells, Chailey, with coffee available to those who want it. Meet at 10am for a 10.30 sharp start. The tour will take a lunch stop at an interesting pub, and carry on to a final attraction.
July - Tuesday 13th Best Presented TR -- Round One
The first round of the annual competition (this year over two rounds) that sees the best looking cars in the club being judged in several major categories. These include bodywork, interior and engine bay. Everyone is free to enter, don’t be afraid! Get polishing, and good luck!
July - Weekend
Sat 17th - Sun 18th
Bentley Wildfowl
This show has been confirmed as running after the confusion over the venue’s possible closure. SDG are making an effort to get a good representation of club cars there. The closing date for free entry has already passed but if you still wish to show your car then there are late entries being accepted at the cost of admission, you should even be able to turn up and display your car with us on the day. SDG have a club display planned for Sunday 18th, hope to see you there. Contact Gregg May for more info.
July - Weekend
Fri 23rd - Sun 25th
TR Register International Weekend
Why not come and join your fellow SDG members at the annual TR Register event? Situated under the Malvern Hills there is plenty to do for everyone including autojumble, treasure hunts, runs, and even some shopping trips for the ladies. There are plenty of bed and breakfast hotels nearby for those of you who aren't keen on camping, but those of you who are intending to 'rough it' for a few nights why not make your way to the SDG campsite in the quiet zone? We will be waiting for you. Look out for further details in the TR Action.
August - Sunday 1st MG Car Club Weekender
The South East Division of the MG Car Club has once again invited the SDG to attend its annual event held at Plumpton Race Course. Once again we hope that we can give good support to our neighbouring club.
August - Sunday 8th Battle Abbey
A good day out and a chance for SDG to put on a great display of TRs. We hope to achieve one of every TR here, so get ‘em out and give ‘em an airing! Held in the grounds of Battle Abbey, the scene of the 1066 Battle of Hastings, there is always a large selection of cars as well as stalls and games, not to mention the historical interest such a venue offers.
August - Tuesday 10th SDG Summer Barbecue and Jazz Evening
SDG are hoping to bring a mixture of Jazz, TR’s and a BBQ to our August club night. We are inviting our neighbouring groups as well so hope that this will be a great event to be repeated annually. This is to be a ticket event, they can be purchased in advance or on the night, the cost is to be £15 per head and will include the Jazz band and BBQ in the private garden of the Five Bells. Please let us know if you plan to come as the numbers dictate whether the group can afford to run the evening. This should be a good opportunity for a get together with other members and relax a bit. Contact Ian May for details.
August - Weekend
Sat 28th - Sun 29th
Shoreham Air Show
A great event full of cars and aircraft. Held at Shoreham Airport near Brighton, this event includes large car club displays (of which the SDG stand will be one), trade stands and fantastic aircraft displays, both static and in the air. So whether your interest lies with cars, vintage aircraft or fast jets, there is just about something for everybody. Let's make sure SDG put on a great display.
September - Saturday 11th Brighton Speed Trials
A traditional motor sport event at which SDG has provided marshalling manpower for many years. The Brighton & Hove Motor Club Speed Trials is a major national sprint which puts all sorts of machinery against the clock on a quarter mile, standing start drag along Madeira Drive, on Brighton seafront. The mundane to the exotic, its all there. Turn up just to watch or join in with the paddock marshalling melee, it’s a brilliant event for motor sport enthusiasts. Hey, even enter the TR and make SDG proud!

(Price based on two sharing a car). Contact us for further details and a booking form. Don’t miss out on this fantastic event!
October - Tuesday 12th Members Spotlight
A chance for a member to give a talk to the group about something that they do outside of SDG. For this meet we have member Chris Neve talking about the rebuild of his Daimler SP250 Dart, a car with links to the TR. This is not an easy project to take on, only for the brave! And should make a very interesting talk.
