Nearly
20 cars arrived at the Dover Ferry Terminal early on Saturday
morning.
Most had travelled in convoy from Sussex. A few had come
from further afield.

|
| We
were directed onto the lower car deck - ready for a fast get
away on the other side!
|
|
|
It
was a calm and sunny crossing with barely a hint of autumn in
the air. |

At
Calais it was time for a quick route check and "tops down",
before heading south east towards our destination. |
|
|
Arras
was the perfect spot for lunch.
Les Places are two stunning cobbled market squares, surrounded
by colonnaded shops and cafes. |
|
|
It
was time for another one of those group discussions.... |
|
....
and to drink to everyone having made it this far without needing
to call upon the services of that special price european breakdown
cover. |

Hotel
Le Relais, in Sedan, was to be our home for the next two nights. |
|
With
an impromptu bar outside the lobby, it seemed like a good location
for our group. |
|
Sedan
is on the river Meuse, close to the Belgian border. It's dominated
by a massive medieval chateau fortress - the biggest in Europe.
The outer walls are grimy and foreboding, but the buildings
within are part of an impressive renovation project.
Here's the charming honey coloured hotel, the Hôtellerie
le Château Fort. |
